Solar project supports Emirates Extrusion’s push towards sustainable manufacturing.

Dubai: Emirates Extrusion (EE), a UAE-based manufacturer of high-performance aluminium extrusion profiles and customised architectural and industrial solutions, is stepping up its sustainability efforts with the installation of a solar photovoltaic (PV) system at its Dubai facility.

The project marks a significant step in the company’s efforts to decarbonise its manufacturing operations and increase the use of clean energy.

The solar PV system is expected to generate approximately 1.24 GWh of clean electricity annually, equivalent to 1,238,899 kWh.

Over its projected 25-year operating lifespan, the system is expected to produce around 31 GWh of clean energy, helping reduce carbon dioxide emissions by an estimated 12,389 tonnes.

The project is being developed in collaboration with Three Eight Six, bringing together Emirates Extrusion’s focus on operational efficiency and sustainability with 386 Solar’s expertise in renewable energy solutions.

By integrating both rooftop and carport solar installations, Emirates Extrusion aims to make greater use of its existing infrastructure for clean energy generation while reducing its reliance on grid-supplied electricity.

The project is also expected to support the company’s long-term sustainability goals by increasing the share of renewable energy used across its manufacturing operations.

Commenting on the initiative, Sreekumar Brahmanandan, General Manager of Emirates Extrusion and White Aluminium Extrusion, said the project represents an important step towards more sustainable and energy-efficient manufacturing.

“This solar project marks an important step in our commitment to sustainable and energy-efficient manufacturing. By integrating renewable energy into our operations, we are reducing our environmental footprint while improving energy efficiency and supporting a more sustainable future,” he said.

“The project also lowers the embodied carbon of every profile we extrude — we are investing in a measurable improvement our customers across construction, transportation and industrial markets can carry into their own projects.”

Ahmad Al Khayyat, Chairman of Three Eight Six, said the collaboration demonstrates how industrial facilities can make effective use of existing infrastructure to generate renewable energy.

“We are pleased to partner with Emirates Extrusion on this significant renewable energy initiative. This solar project demonstrates how industrial facilities can effectively utilise rooftop and carport spaces to generate clean energy and deliver measurable sustainability benefits,” he said.

“This partnership reflects the positive impact that businesses can achieve by taking practical steps towards a cleaner energy future.”

The initiative supports the objectives of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the UAE’s wider clean energy transition and Net Zero by 2050 strategic direction, while encouraging greater adoption of renewable energy across the industrial sector.
