Motorists faced significant delays during the rush hour commute on Sunday morning with accidents reported in Dubai and traffic snarls in Sharjah.

Dubai Police have issued a statement on Twitter, advising drivers to stay cautious and that there would be low visibility due to fog for those driving on Dubai-Al Ain Road.

According to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), fog was reported in different parts of the country, including Al Marfa, Al Dafra Region, Sweihan and Dubai-Al Ain Road in the early hours.

At 7.55am, the Dubai Police warned motorists about an accident on Al Khail Road, the exit leading to Mohammed bin Zayed Street towards Jebel Ali.

According to Google Maps, two accidents were reported on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (E311) early morning that slowed down traffic and caused huge tailback – near Jumeirah Village Triangle.

Slow moving traffic was reported on the popular E311 in the Industrial Area causing heavy congestion towards Dubai from Sharjah this morning.

Motorists are advised take caution and take alternative routes where possible.
