Dubai South launches new aviation support centre to accelerate aircraft maintenance

Date:

Spanning 2,800 sqm, the facility aims to provide services to airlines in the Middle East, Africa, and India

Dubai: Dubai South has unveiled a new aviation support centre aimed at speeding up aircraft maintenance and equipment servicing for airlines.

I can also create a slightly longer, media-ready version incorporating the facility size and regional coverage if you want.

The new centre, launched at the Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub, will be operated by RH Aero Systems, a specialist in aviation support equipment (GSE) and engine/airframe tooling.

Located in Dubai South, the facility will serve as RH Aero’s regional hub, providing Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and engine and airframe tooling services across the Middle East, Africa, and India.

RH Aero Systems operates dual global headquarters in Mason, Ohio, USA, and Biberach, Germany. Formed through the merger of Rhinestahl and HYDRO Systems, the company runs 26 service centres worldwide.

What this means for airlines

The new RH Aero Systems Service Center spans 2,800 square metres and features four bays, with room for future expansion as demand grows.

The facility will handle inspection, testing, calibration, and recertification of equipment, along with maintenance, repair, and overhaul of aircraft tooling and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) — the specialised tools and machinery used to service aircraft on the ground.

Additional services include proof-load testing, modifications and upgrades, local technical support, on-site assistance, and Aircraft on Ground (AOG) support for urgent operational needs.

The company says the centre will enable faster turnaround times and provide OEM-licensed tooling support to airlines, MROs, and aviation partners across the Middle East, Africa, and India.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Tahnoon Saif, CEO of the Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub, and Martin Dürr, Executive Vice President for the EMEAI region at RH Aero Systems.

Saif said, “The expansion of internationally recognised players such as RH Aero reflects the confidence that leading aviation partners place in MBRAH’s integrated ecosystem and contributes to our mandate of empowering the aerospace industry.” MBRAH, located in Dubai South, serves as a free zone hub for airlines, private jet operators, maintenance companies, and aviation training centres.

Dürr added, “This facility will allow us to deliver faster turnaround times, OEM-aligned tooling and GSE service solutions, and enhanced service proximity to our partners across the Middle East, Africa, and India.”

Dubai South is also poised to play a central role in the UAE’s aviation future, with the new Al Maktoum International Airport expected to become Dubai’s primary aviation hub once fully operational.
