Dubai Police penalise driver for removing number plates to evade smart traffic systems.

Dubai: Dubai Police have taken action against a reckless motorist who removed his vehicle’s licence plates in an attempt to evade the emirate’s smart traffic monitoring systems.

Dubai Police, in a social media post featuring footage of the incident, said the driver was caught travelling at speeds exceeding 230km/h, putting his own safety and the lives of other road users at serious risk.

The motorist has been summoned by authorities, with action being taken under Decree No. 30 of 2023 on vehicle impoundment, which carries a Dh50,000 fine.

Dubai Police warned motorists that any attempts to evade traffic monitoring systems, remove licence plates or engage in reckless driving behaviour will be met with strict enforcement action.
