Dubai: As part of its proactive preparations for the return of Hajj pilgrims and the surge in passenger traffic during the Eid Al Adha holiday, Dubai Customs has announced heightened operational readiness across all customs ports and airports to ensure smoother passenger movement and quicker customs procedures, providing pilgrims, visitors and transit travellers with a seamless, safe and integrated travel experience.

The preparations form part of an integrated operational framework implemented annually during peak travel periods, underscoring Dubai Customs’ commitment to supporting the emirate’s preparedness and reinforcing Dubai’s standing as one of the world’s most efficient and well-prepared cities for managing global travel flows. The measures include the use of advanced smart solutions and digital technologies to speed up procedures, cut waiting times and uphold the highest standards of safety and security.

Customs departments across land and air ports have stepped up operational and field efforts to ensure full preparedness for receiving pilgrims returning from the Holy Lands and managing the anticipated surge in traveller numbers during the Eid holiday period efficiently. The measures reflect the UAE’s progressive image and Dubai’s leadership in delivering an exceptional travel experience centred on efficiency, flexibility and high-quality government services.

Integrated Airport Operations for Returning Pilgrims

Khaled Ahmed, Director of Passenger Operations at Dubai Customs, said the department has rolled out a comprehensive operational plan across Dubai Airports ahead of the return of Hajj pilgrims. He noted that teams are working around the clock to streamline passenger movement and speed up customs procedures, ensuring the comfort of pilgrims and visitors while maintaining smooth operations across arrival and departure halls.

He said Dubai Customs has reinforced frontline teams and upgraded the readiness of smart systems and advanced inspection equipment to speed up screening and inspection procedures and ensure maximum efficiency during peak travel periods. He added that smart solutions and advanced technologies have become a key pillar in enhancing customs operations and improving service efficiency for travellers.

Ahmed also noted that Dubai Customs continues to coordinate closely with strategic partners and entities operating across Dubai Airports to ensure seamless cooperation and deliver an exceptional travel experience for arriving pilgrims. He stressed that passenger comfort and safety remain top priorities in all seasonal operational plans.

Dedicated Measures to Improve Pilgrim Arrivals

Special measures have also been introduced to simplify arrival procedures for pilgrims, including a dedicated route within hand baggage inspection areas near counters operated by Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security to help accelerate processing procedures.

In addition, baggage belts located near exit gates at Dubai International Airport terminals have been designated to help pilgrims collect their luggage more quickly. Dedicated exit gates and electronic inspection channels have also been allocated to ensure smooth passenger movement and prevent congestion with other travellers in customs inspection halls.

Dubai Customs has also coordinated with Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services to station an on-site paramedic in airport customs halls to respond to any emergencies or health incidents.

Ahmed said the measures are part of an integrated strategy aimed at enhancing the traveller experience and boosting operational efficiency, further reinforcing Dubai’s position as a leading global hub for travel, aviation and logistics services.

Hatta Border Crossing Prepared for Holiday Travel Demand

Khaled Al Muadhin, Director of Hatta Customs Management at Dubai Customs, confirmed continued readiness at the Hatta Border Crossing to handle the expected rise in traveller numbers during the Hajj season and Eid Al Adha holiday period, noting that operational and field efforts have been intensified to ensure smooth border movement and faster customs procedures.

He said teams at the Hatta Border Crossing are working around the clock to provide the highest levels of service to pilgrims, visitors and travellers, while ensuring a safe and comfortable travel environment that reflects the quality of UAE government services and meets customer expectations during peak travel periods.

Al Muadhin added that operational preparedness has been strengthened through enhanced logistical and technical support, increased field shift capacity and closer coordination with relevant authorities and strategic partners at the border crossing to ensure a swift response to rising traffic volumes and the organised movement of passengers and buses during the holiday season.

He noted that the measures are part of a comprehensive plan aimed at improving passenger flow and streamlining border procedures in line with the highest standards of efficiency and security.

Smart Customs Strategy Drives Service Excellence

Dubai Customs continues to implement development plans aimed at enhancing customs services and improving operational performance across all ports through the use of advanced technologies and digital solutions that support faster processing and greater operational accuracy. The efforts align with the Dubai Government’s vision of delivering proactive and smart government services centred on innovation, flexibility and quality of life.

The integrated preparations highlight Dubai Customs’ readiness to manage peak travel seasons and rising passenger volumes with high efficiency, further reinforcing its position as a global model in smart customs operations and a key facilitator of travel, trade and customer experience across Dubai.
