Day 7 of the US–Israel‑Iran conflict: key information for UAE residents

Date:

Despite ongoing tensions, UAE’s air defenses are on alert and public services continue without disruption.

The UAE’s air defenses successfully intercepted missiles and drones, with authorities fully prepared to counter threats and protect national security. Airports and airlines have resumed limited operations, while schools and universities have announced early spring breaks and canceled some exams. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.

UAE Prepared to Defend Its Sovereignty
The UAE remains committed to peace and regional stability but is fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and safeguard all residents, said Dr. Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to the UAE President.

Dr. Gargash noted that the country had faced more than 1,000 attacks over just a few days, describing the scale as unprecedented even by military standards. Despite these assaults, he emphasized that the nation’s resolve remains unshaken.

Air Defence Operations
The UAE Ministry of Defence reported intercepting six ballistic missiles and 125 drones, with minor debris causing injuries in Abu Dhabi. Since the onset of Iranian aggression, a total of 196 missiles and 1,072 drones have been detected, of which 181 missiles and 1,001 drones were successfully intercepted. Eight cruise missiles were also destroyed.

Casualties include three fatalities—a Pakistani, a Nepali, and a Bangladeshi national—and 94 minor injuries among various nationalities. Authorities confirmed that the country remains fully prepared to counter threats and protect national security.

UAE Flight Status – March 6
UAE airports and airlines are gradually resuming operations after recent regional disruptions. Limited flights have restarted in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah, and passengers are advised to travel only with confirmed bookings. Authorities continue to prioritise safety, with schedules subject to change.

Supermarket Prices Rise
Some UAE residents report higher grocery bills in recent days, particularly for fruits and vegetables. Shoppers told Gulf News that prices for certain produce items have climbed sharply, with some nearly doubling compared to last week.

Alerts and Public Safety
Amid the ongoing conflict, authorities have issued clear guidelines for residents in case of alerts. People are advised to head to safe locations and remain sheltered until an “all clear” is announced. Authorities stressed: “Do not exit to film or record.”

Education Updates

  • Early spring breaks announced for schools and universities; some exams canceled.
  • Sharjah schools have postponed the start of the academic year, while distance learning continues for Indian and other schools in Dubai.
  • CBSE exams have been canceled or postponed in affected countries.

Public Services and Infrastructure

  • Healthcare: Hospitals and emergency services are fully operational.
  • Utilities: Etihad Water and Electricity confirm uninterrupted services across Abu Dhabi and the Northern Emirates.
  • Banks and Finance: Authorities have reassured the public that the UAE’s financial system remains strong and fully operational despite regional tensions.

Banking and Finance
The Central Bank of the UAE confirmed that banks, financial institutions, and insurance companies nationwide continue to operate normally, providing services without disruption.

Emirates NBD is offering greater flexibility to customers by waiving fees on select services until March 31, 2026, in response to recent regional developments.

Tourism Sector Remains Open
Tourism across the UAE continues as normal. Hotels, resorts, attractions, and shopping centres are operating fully while maintaining safety and quality standards. Authorities monitor operations and occupancy daily, and residents and visitors are advised to check directly with service providers for the latest updates on bookings and programmes.

Leisure and Entertainment Closures
Some major attractions in Dubai have extended temporary closures as a precautionary safety measure amid ongoing regional tensions related to the US–Israel–Iran conflict.

Daily Life and Operations
Authorities emphasize that daily life in the UAE continues as normal, though some venues have temporarily paused operations in line with official guidance.

Responsibility and Compliance
Residents are urged to stay safe and informed. Photographing or sharing images of security or critical sites—or reposting unverified information—can result in legal consequences and jeopardize national security.

Following official guidelines and regulations helps protect the community and maintain stability.

Safety Advisory
Remain vigilant for shrapnel and suspicious objects, and report any concerns to authorities immediately.

Safety Advisory: Shrapnel and Suspicious Objects

  • Do not approach or photograph debris or suspicious items. Let authorities handle them safely.
  • This guidance follows a recent attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles, which were intercepted by UAE air defence systems.

Emergency Steps if Debris is Spotted

  1. Move away from the area and maintain a safe distance.
  2. Avoid approaching fragments—they may contain explosives or hazardous materials.
  3. Do not take or post photos on social media.
  4. Do not gather at the site; allow authorities to access the location.
  5. Rely only on official sources and avoid circulating unverified information.
  6. Check on family members and remain calm.
  7. Report incidents immediately by calling 999.

Despite regional tensions, the UAE continues to operate efficiently: air defences remain active, public services run normally, limited flights are resuming, and residents are urged to follow official guidance.
