Covid-19 UAE update:672 new cases, 489 recoveries on Friday

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has reported 672 new Covid-19 cases and 489 recoveries on Friday.

This brings the total number of cases to 50,141 and the total recoveries to 39,153.

The new cases were identified after conducting additional tests for Covid-19 as part of plans to boost the early detection of cases, particularly among those who may have had been in contact with infected individuals.

MoHAP also announced the death of one patient due to complications arising from Covid-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 318 in the country. 

The Ministry offered its sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to patients currently undergoing medical care.

Earlier this week, the UAE public prosecution had published the names and photos of people who violated precautionary measures put in place to stymie the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.

They were also fined between Dh2,000 and Dh10,000 for the violations, which included not wearing masks, breaching curfew rules, holding gatherings and attending parties, it was announced at the virtual media briefing on Wednesday evening.

Members of the public are urged to adhere to all health guidelines and follow all instructions from relevant authorities, particularly those concerning social distancing, in order to ensure the health and safety of all.
