Covid 19: Oman tells all tourists to leave the country

The total number of cases registered in the Sultanate is 33.

Tourists who are currently in Oman have been urged to leave and return to their home countries due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Oman’s Ministry of Tourism has called on travel and tourism agencies as well as hotel establishments to advise tourist groups to leave the Sultanate and return to their countries due to uncertainty of coronavirus.

The ministry said that it is better for tourists, who are currently in the Sultanate, to leave and return home, due to lack of clarity and exceptional circumstances the world is going through amid the developments on the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

The move is part of a series of strict preventive and precautionary measures taken by Oman to contain the spread of coronavirus and safeguard the safety of its people.

Earlier in the day, Oman announced the suspension of all public transportation that includes buses, taxis and ferries until further notice, as of Thursday, March 19, until further notice.

Buses and ferries to and from Musandam governorate and Masirah are exempted from the ban.

Oman’s Ministry of Transport announced that it was decided to halt mobility within the country to help contain the COVID-19 virus.

The total number of cases registered in the Sultanate is 33, of which 29 are travel-related. Of these, 12 cases have recovered so far.
