New Road Connections and Improved Drainage Systems Set to Ease Traffic Congestion Across Ajman.

Ajman: Two major road infrastructure projects in Ajman are making steady progress, with the City Centre Roads Development Project achieving 75 per cent completion and the first phase of the Al Hamidiya Street Development Project reaching 25 per cent. Both projects are scheduled to open in early 2027, according to the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department.
The latest construction progress was assessed during an inspection visit led by Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director General of the department. He was joined by Dr Engineer Mohammed Ahmed bin Omair Al Muhairi, Executive Director of the Infrastructure Development Sector, and Engineer Abdullah Mustafa Al Marzouqi, Director of the Roads and Infrastructure Department.
The ongoing developments are designed to reduce traffic congestion, enhance road network efficiency and improve connectivity between important locations across the emirate, supporting Ajman’s continued urban growth.
Ajman City Centre Road Upgrades Reach 75% Completion
The City Centre Roads Development Project forms part of the municipality’s broader infrastructure improvement programme, aimed at reducing traffic bottlenecks and accommodating increasing transport demands in Ajman’s expanding residential and commercial districts.
Al Muhairi explained that the department is carrying out a comprehensive infrastructure development strategy across the emirate. The initiative prioritises construction quality, operational efficiency and the establishment of a modern road network capable of supporting both present and future transportation requirements.
Several major components of the project have already been completed, including the primary construction works along Sheikh Abdullah bin Humaid bin Rashid Street and the connection linking Masfout Street with Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum Street.
Authorities have also opened the intersection near Al Rashidiya Park and completed civil construction works for the stormwater drainage station, marking further progress in the area’s infrastructure improvements.
Meanwhile, development activities remain underway along Sheikh Rashid bin Abdulaziz Street and Al Zaher Street, alongside construction of the remaining sections of the stormwater drainage network.
Once completed, the project is expected to improve traffic movement, strengthen connections between major roads and support the municipality’s long-term vision of creating an efficient, integrated and sustainable transportation network throughout Ajman.
Three Major Intersections Opened to Improve Traffic Flow
Engineer Abdullah Mustafa Al Marzouqi, Director of the Roads and Infrastructure Department, said newly completed road sections and intersections are being opened to motorists in stages, allowing residents to benefit from infrastructure improvements before the entire project is finished.

So far, three key intersections have been opened to traffic:
- The intersection connecting Sheikh Rashid bin Abdulaziz Street with Sheikh Abdullah bin Humaid bin Rashid Street.
- The junction between Sheikh Rashid bin Abdulaziz Street and Anas bin Malik Street.
- The intersection of Sheikh Abdullah bin Humaid bin Rashid Street and Al Zaher Street, located near Al Rashidiya Park.
Construction teams are continuing work on the remaining road sections and drainage infrastructure according to the approved development schedule. Particular attention is being given to completing the stormwater drainage network to improve the area’s ability to manage rainfall.
Officials confirmed that construction is progressing as planned, with the project expected to open in early 2027. Additional development phases will be completed according to the municipality’s approved infrastructure plans.
Al Hamidiya Street Expansion to Include Three Lanes in Each Direction
The first phase of the Al Hamidiya Street Development Project has achieved 25 per cent completion, marking another milestone in Ajman’s ongoing road improvement programme.
The development covers the section extending from Mohammed bin Rashid Street to the border road, with plans to expand road capacity and improve connectivity.
As part of the project, Al Hamidiya Street will be widened to three lanes in each direction between Mohammed bin Rashid Street and the intersection with Jeddah Street.
The remaining stretch, extending from Jeddah Street to the border road, will feature two lanes in each direction.
In addition to road widening, the project includes upgrades to pedestrian pavements and parking facilities, aimed at improving accessibility and convenience for motorists and pedestrians.
Road preparation activities along the entire section between Mohammed bin Rashid Street and the border road have already been completed. This progress allows construction teams to proceed with the next stages of road surfacing.
The upgraded street is scheduled to open in early 2027.
Once operational, the expanded roadway is expected to reduce traffic congestion, increase vehicle capacity and improve overall travel efficiency.
The extension of Al Hamidiya Street towards the border road will also strengthen connections with surrounding routes, helping motorists travel more conveniently across the area.
Ajman Accelerates Road Infrastructure Improvements
The City Centre Roads Development Project and Al Hamidiya Street expansion are key components of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department’s wider strategy to modernise transport infrastructure throughout the emirate.
These initiatives aim to improve traffic circulation, accommodate growing urban development and create stronger connections between residential, commercial and other important areas.
By expanding road capacity, upgrading drainage systems and improving transport links, the municipality seeks to establish a more efficient and sustainable road network.
The projects are also expected to enhance daily commuting experiences, support future development and improve the overall quality of public infrastructure and services for Ajman residents.
With both developments targeted for opening in early 2027, the upgrades are set to play an important role in supporting the emirate’s long-term transport and urban development objectives.
