Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has thanked well-wishers for their ‘prayers, concern, wishes and love’ after she and her eight-year-old daughter Aaradhyar recovered from Covid-19.
The pair were discharged from hospital on Monday and returned home after testing negative for the coronavirus.
Aishwarya’s husband Abhishek and his father, 77-year-old Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan, tested positive for the disease and remain in a Mumbai hospital.
In an emotional Instagram post on Tuesday, Aishwarya said she was ‘truly overwhelmed and forever indebted’ by the love she and her family had received from their legions of fans.
To add extra emphasis to her message, she capitalised some of her sentiments.
“GOD BLESS YOU ALL. ALL MY LOVE ALWAYS and Prayers for the well-being of you ALL and all yours… Truly, Deeply and Heartfelt…Be Well and Be Safe GOD BLESS LOVE YOU All too.”
On Monday, Abhishek had tweeted: “Thank you all for your continued prayers and good wishes. Indebted forever. Aishwarya and Aaradhya have thankfully tested negative and have been discharged from the hospital.”
“They will now be at home. My father and I remain in hospital under the care of the medical staff,” wrote Abhishek on his verified account.
Abhishek’s mother Jaya Bachchan tested negative for Covid-19.
The Bachchans have been the most high-profile of India’s growing Covid-19 cases.
Amitabh Bachchan and his son tested positive on July 11. Rai and Aaradhya tested positive a day later, but were admitted to hospital only on July 17, after they developed symptoms, local media reported.
Rai, 46, has worked on several Bollywood and Hollywood films and is a brand ambassador for multi-national companies including L’Oreal. Her husband Abhishek, who is 44, has worked in several Bollywood films and recently acted in a web-series that was released on Amazon’s streaming platform, Prime Video.
Amitabh Bachchan is one of India’s most beloved actors, and fans all over the country have been conducting prayers for his swift recovery.
