Dubai residents may soon book air taxis via Uber app

Dubai residents could soon hail air taxis through the Uber app, with all-electric aerial rides appearing alongside conventional transport options.

Through the new Uber Air service, riders simply enter their destination in the search bar. If the trip qualifies, an air taxi option will appear alongside regular ride choices. With a single tap, the system handles the entire journey, including premium car pickup, the flight, and final drop-off.

The all-electric air taxi is designed to carry up to four passengers and will be operated by a certified commercial pilot. Its cabin features comfortable seating and large panoramic windows, allowing every passenger to enjoy sweeping views of the city during the flight.

The aircraft is equipped with six tilting propellers, enabling vertical take-off before transitioning into forward flight. It can reach speeds of up to 200 miles per hour and has a range of up to 100 miles on a single charge.

Built specifically for urban environments, the aircraft features multiple levels of safety redundancy and an acoustic profile designed to blend into city sounds, reducing noise impact for residents.

Passenger flights are expected to begin later this year in Dubai, marking a significant milestone in efforts to integrate multi-modal transportation into city life. The collaboration leverages years of work to combine ground and air travel in a single seamless booking experience, allowing riders to move effortlessly between conventional rides and air taxis through the Uber app.
