Neither Air India nor its parent company, Tata Group, has released an official statement.

New Delhi: Campbell Wilson, CEO of Indian carrier Air India, has resigned from his position, local media reported on Tuesday.
The reports did not provide reasons for Wilson’s departure. The airline has faced heightened regulatory scrutiny in recent months following safety-related incidents and operational disruptions.
New Zealand-born Wilson, who became CEO in 2022 following the airline’s privatisation, submitted his resignation before completing his five-year term, the Press Trust of India reported.
Neither Air India nor its parent company, Tata Group, has issued an official statement regarding the resignation.
Indian media reported that Wilson is expected to continue in his role during a transition period until a successor is appointed.
During his tenure, efforts to modernise the fleet, enhance service standards, and integrate operations faced significant challenges, including supply chain disruptions, aircraft delivery delays, and rising costs.
However, the most serious setback came with the crash of Air India Flight 171 in June 2025.
The London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad, killing all but one of the 242 people on board, along with 19 on the ground.
