New survey to measure digital revenues, technology adoption and their role in Abu Dhabi’s economic growth.

Statistics Centre – Abu Dhabi (SCAD) has launched the Digital Economy Survey to improve the measurement of digital economic activity and provide greater insight into how technology, artificial intelligence (AI) and digital business models contribute to Abu Dhabi’s economy.
The survey covers businesses operating across key segments of the digital economy, including e-commerce and digital platforms, fintech and digital financial services, software and cloud services, transport and delivery platforms, data services and digital infrastructure.
It will gather information on digital revenues, the adoption of emerging technologies and the role of digital business models in economic activity. The findings will help establish a statistical baseline for monitoring the growth and development of Abu Dhabi’s digital economy.
Abdulla Gharib Alqemzi, Director-General of SCAD, said the initiative is part of the Centre’s wider efforts to modernise the way Abu Dhabi’s economy is measured. It also complements the comprehensive revision of the emirate’s gross domestic product time series announced in May 2026.
According to Alqemzi, the survey will provide more detailed data on digital economic activities and their contribution to the emirate’s economy, helping official statistics keep pace with changes in Abu Dhabi’s economic structure while providing decision-makers with more relevant information.
The Digital Economy Survey also aligns with the UAE Digital Economy Strategy, which seeks to double the sector’s contribution to national GDP from 9.7 per cent in 2022 to 19.4 per cent within a decade.
The survey’s findings will add to Abu Dhabi’s official economic data, providing a stronger evidence base to guide policies and decisions related to economic diversification, competitiveness, investment and sustainable growth.
