In the long term, the association plans to strengthen a culture of family fostering through specialised training programs, workshops, and awareness campaigns.

Abu Dhabi has officially granted a licence to the Foster Families Association as a public benefit organisation, enabling families to access fostering services and helping provide a safe environment for children.

The association will function as a community-focused entity, dedicated to promoting a culture of family fostering and ensuring a safe, stable, and nurturing environment for children in care, supporting their overall wellbeing and positive development.

The initiative aims to develop a comprehensive foster care ecosystem by enhancing collaboration with government bodies and specialised organisations in the psychological, social, and educational sectors.

Over the long term, the association seeks to strengthen a culture of family fostering through specialised training programs, workshops, and awareness initiatives that clarify the rights, duties, and responsibilities of foster families.

Huda Al Meshjari, Founding Member of the Foster Families Association, emphasized that educating the community about the rights of children in foster care is essential for ensuring comprehensive, child-centred support that addresses their diverse needs while safeguarding them from abuse, neglect, or exploitation.

The association will also highlight success stories of family fostering that have positively transformed the lives of fostered children, building public trust in the foster care system and encouraging wider community involvement.

The granting of the licence marks a major milestone for Abu Dhabi’s foster care ecosystem, enabling specialised organisations to raise awareness about family fostering and provide crucial support to foster families.
