The judge ruled that the online comments harmed the dignity and reputation of two women.

Abu Dhabi: A woman who posted insulting comments on social media has been ordered to pay Dh20,000 in compensation to two women after a court ruled that her remarks harmed their honour and reputation.
The Abu Dhabi Court for Family, Civil and Administrative Cases issued the decision, following a prior criminal conviction for using abusive and defamatory language online, according to Al Khaleej newspaper.
The two women had filed a civil lawsuit seeking Dh51,000 in damages, citing material and emotional harm, and requested that the defendant also cover legal costs and fees.
Court records show that the defendant made offensive remarks online that harmed the women’s honour, prompting them to file a criminal complaint. Following her conviction, the victims were able to pursue financial compensation through civil proceedings.
The court ruled that her actions had caused both reputational and psychological damage, awarding the two women Dh20,000 and ordering the defendant to cover the associated legal costs.
