First lunar eclipse of 2020 to be visible over Dubai this week

The first lunar eclipse of 2020 is set to take place this Friday and will be visible in the UAE.

The first eclipse of the decade will be a penumbral lunar eclipse taking place on the January 10, 2019.

During a penumbral eclipse, the Sun, the Moon and the Earth are aligned, but not in a straight line. This will cause the surface of the moon to appear to darken slightly.

The eclipse will also be visible from Europe, Africa, Asia, Western Australia and the Indian Ocean.
