The angry man stabbed the victim in his neck with a broken bottle of liquor.

The Ras Al Khaimah Criminal Court has ordered a young Asian man to pay Dh200,000 in blood money and sentenced him to 15 years in jail on charges of murdering his friend, also Asian, after illegally consuming alcohol in a desert area. He will be deported after serving the jail term.

As per court records, the two friends were drinking liquor alone at a remote area when they got involved in a heated argument after the victim insulted the mother of the youth using abusive words.

The angry man stabbed the victim in his neck with a broken bottle of liquor.

He stabbed him multiple times until he slumped to the ground, lost consciousness, and died on the spot.

The man then drove away leaving his friend profusely bleeding, without offering any help.

Later in the morning, a shepherd spotted the victim’s body lying in a pool of blood. He immediately alerted the RAK Police who launched an intensive investigation and managed to track down the man, and arrested him.

The forensic report proved that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crime. It also proved that the man used a broken bottle to stab the victim.

The man was referred to the RAK Public Prosecution and then to the RAK Criminal Court where he first denied the charges, but later admitted to his crime.

He told the court that he was under the influence of liquor when he committed the crime and added that the victim had “used abusive words” against his mother, which prompted him to stab his friend.

The RAK Criminal Court, presided over by Chief Judge Sameh Shaker, found him guilty of murdering his friend and consuming alcohol, and ordered him to serve 15 years in jail. He was also ordered to pay Dh200,000 in blood money to the heirs of the deceased.
