Dubai Police Raise Awareness on Cybersecurity, Road Safety, Crime Prevention and Public Services.

Dubai: Dubai Police engaged with approximately 5,000 members of the Filipino community during the opening of the Al Rigga Night Market, using the popular gathering to raise awareness about cybersecurity, road safety and crime prevention.
The community outreach initiative was organised by Dubai Police’s Positive Spirit Council in collaboration with the General Department of Police Stations, represented by Al Muraqqabat Police Station, and several strategic partners.
The event provided an opportunity for police officers to interact directly with Filipino residents, offer practical safety guidance and strengthen communication with Dubai’s multicultural communities.
Through interactive awareness activities, Dubai Police encouraged residents to adopt safer practices in their daily lives and become more familiar with the services available to them.
Dubai Police Warn Residents About Online Scams and Cybercrime
As part of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, observed annually in October, the Positive Spirit Council conducted educational sessions highlighting common online threats and fraudulent activities.
The sessions focused on cybercrime techniques such as phishing, online scams, malicious links and identity impersonation through social media platforms and mobile applications.
Residents were encouraged to remain vigilant when receiving suspicious messages, emails or online requests, particularly those seeking sensitive personal or financial information.
Officers emphasised the importance of safeguarding bank account details, passwords, confidential information and one-time verification codes.
Participants were also advised to verify the authenticity of digital communications before responding to messages or opening unfamiliar links.
The awareness campaign introduced attendees to official Dubai Police channels for reporting cybercrime and suspected online fraud, helping residents understand how to recognise threats and seek assistance.
Road Safety and Crime Prevention Take Centre Stage
Beyond cybersecurity, Dubai Police provided guidance on personal safety, crime prevention and responsible behaviour in public spaces.
Officers highlighted the importance of following UAE laws and regulations, adopting preventive safety measures and avoiding activities that could endanger individuals or the wider community.
Road safety was another major focus of the initiative, with particular attention given to the risks associated with crossing roads at undesignated or unsafe locations.
Residents were reminded to use designated pedestrian crossings, observe traffic signals and follow road regulations to reduce accidents and protect lives.
The sessions also reinforced the importance of individual responsibility in maintaining a safe and secure environment.
Dubai Police Introduce Smart and Community Services
During the event, representatives of the Positive Spirit Council familiarised visitors with Dubai Police’s security, community support and digital services.
Officers explained how residents can access police assistance, submit reports and communicate with relevant departments through official channels.
The initiative aimed to make police services more accessible and easier to understand, particularly for members of Dubai’s diverse expatriate communities.
By engaging directly with residents at community events such as the Al Rigga Night Market, Dubai Police sought to build stronger relationships, encourage public cooperation and promote shared responsibility for safety and security.
Dubai Police Emphasise Shared Responsibility for Community Safety
Fatima Ahmad Bohjair, Chairperson of the Positive Spirit Council at Dubai Police, highlighted that the council’s participation in the Al Rigga Night Market demonstrates Dubai Police’s ongoing commitment to strengthening community partnerships and fostering closer connections with residents from different nationalities.
She explained that engaging with people at popular community gatherings provides an effective platform for delivering important safety messages and encouraging greater public participation in maintaining security.
“Reaching people at popular gathering places creates valuable opportunities to deliver practical awareness messages and reinforce the principle that maintaining community safety is a shared responsibility,” said Bohjair.
She also praised the enthusiastic participation and positive response of Filipino community members, highlighting their active engagement with the awareness activities organised during the event.
Bohjair reiterated the Positive Spirit Council’s dedication to expanding its community outreach and public awareness initiatives in collaboration with police stations and strategic partners.
She emphasised that these efforts play an important role in strengthening public trust, promoting social harmony and enhancing the well-being of Dubai’s diverse population.
“Such initiatives contribute to improving quality of life and reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global model for safety, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.”
