US-Israel-Iran War: Latest Developments and Essential Updates for UAE Residents on October 23, 2026

Date:

UAE Residents Advised to Remain Vigilant as Regional Tensions Escalate Following Blasts Near Strait of Hormuz.

Daily life across the UAE remains largely unaffected, but fresh developments in the Middle East have heightened regional security concerns over the past 24 hours.

On Thursday, October 22, explosions were reported near the Strait of Hormuz, while Iranian officials warned of a potential “zero hour” confrontation with Israel. US President Donald Trump also signalled the possibility of further military action against Iran, saying Washington was not engaged in negotiations with Tehran.

As of Friday, October 23, UAE authorities had issued no new instructions requiring residents to alter their daily routines. However, escalating tensions, flight disruptions and rising oil prices have prompted renewed calls for vigilance.

Trump Signals Possibility of Further US Military Action

US President Donald Trump suggested that Washington could intensify its military response against Iran, claiming American forces had already “knocked the hell out of” the country.

Trump indicated that the US might go “a little bit further,” with additional action potentially taking place “fairly soon.”

According to a report by The New York Times, US and Israeli military officials have reportedly prepared plans for a brief but intensive military campaign following the US midterm elections. However, Trump has not reportedly authorised the proposed strikes.

The president also maintained that Washington was not holding negotiations with Tehran.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned that continued US naval escorts through waters it described as mined could provoke direct attacks on American military bases across the Middle East.

Strait of Hormuz Emerges as Major Flashpoint

Tensions around the strategically important Strait of Hormuz intensified following reports of explosions and attacks involving commercial vessels.

The IRGC claimed that four oil tankers were struck on Thursday while transferring petroleum, while three additional vessels reportedly hit naval mines. Iranian officials described the incidents as the highest single-day number of tanker strikes since the conflict began.

However, these claims have not been independently verified.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that no American naval warship had been hit and rejected earlier Iranian claims as misinformation.

American military officials maintained that the Strait of Hormuz remained open and was being monitored by US forces and their regional partners.

Flight Disruptions Continue Across Saudi Routes

Air travel between the UAE and Saudi Arabia remains affected as airlines adjust operations in response to regional security developments.

Etihad Airways has cancelled flights connecting Abu Dhabi with Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam until Saturday, October 24, warning that additional schedule changes remain possible.

Emirates and flydubai have also suspended services on affected Saudi routes, although flights between Dubai and Medina are still listed as operational.

In Saudi Arabia, King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh has resumed limited operations following earlier disruptions linked to regional security incidents and drone and missile attacks claimed by Iran-backed Houthi forces in Yemen.

Indian carriers Air India, Air India Express and IndiGo have also suspended Saudi services until October 24.

Flight-tracking platform Flightradar24 reported that aircraft were being diverted away from Dammam airport.

Passengers travelling between the UAE and Saudi Arabia are advised to verify flight schedules directly with their airlines before heading to the airport.

Saudi Arabia Faces Wider Security Disruptions

Regional instability has also affected business operations and diplomatic activity in Saudi Arabia.

On Thursday, Saudi energy giant Aramco reportedly evacuated its headquarters in Dhahran amid growing security concerns.

The United States also ordered embassy personnel departures, reflecting heightened concern over potential threats.

These developments could affect UAE residents travelling to Saudi Arabia for business, tourism or family visits.

Meanwhile, the US continues to classify the UAE under its Level 3 travel advisory, urging American citizens to reconsider travel and exercise increased caution.

Oil Prices Rise Amid Regional Uncertainty

Global energy markets reacted to the latest developments, with crude oil prices climbing during early trading on Friday.

US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude increased by $1.46, or 1.47 per cent, to $100.90 per barrel.

Brent crude rose by $1.41, or 1.25 per cent, to $114.60 per barrel, while Murban crude advanced by $4.20, or 3.81 per cent, to $114.40.

Although rising crude prices do not necessarily translate into immediate increases in household expenses, prolonged shipping disruptions and higher insurance costs could eventually affect petrol prices, transportation charges and imported goods in the UAE.

What UAE Residents Should Know

Despite the heightened regional tensions, there has been no new official UAE announcement as of October 23 requiring residents to change their daily activities.

However, residents are encouraged to take several precautions:

  1. Monitor flight schedules: Travellers, particularly those flying to Saudi Arabia, should confirm their bookings and check for cancellations or delays before departing for the airport.
  2. Follow official UAE advisories: Residents should rely on announcements from government authorities and emergency services for accurate safety information.
  3. Avoid spreading unverified reports: Claims involving military strikes, shipping incidents and regional security threats should be treated cautiously until confirmed by reliable sources.
  4. Stay informed over the coming days: With airline disruptions continuing through October 24 and regional developments unfolding rapidly, residents should remain alert to further announcements.

For now, everyday activities in the UAE continue, but the evolving situation around the Strait of Hormuz and neighbouring countries remains a key concern for travellers, businesses and residents across the region.
