Air India and Air India Express Extend Saudi Arabia Flight Suspensions; Refund Options Detailed

Date:

Saudi Arabia Flight Suspensions Extended as Airlines Offer Passengers Refunds and Rebooking Options.

Air India and Air India Express have extended the temporary suspension of flights to and from Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam until October 24, 2026, amid the prevailing situation.

The airlines have introduced flexible travel arrangements, including complimentary date changes, alternative airport options and refunds, to assist passengers affected by the cancellations.

Free date changes and refund options for affected passengers

Passengers holding confirmed tickets issued on or before October 15, 2026, for journeys scheduled between October 9 and 25 can make a one-time change to their travel date without additional charges, subject to applicable conditions.

The revised travel date must fall on or before November 10, 2026.

Travellers who prefer not to use their original route at a later date can also choose to rebook their flights through selected alternative airports in the Gulf region served by the respective airlines, depending on seat availability.

Passengers whose flights have been cancelled and who no longer wish to travel are eligible to request a full refund.

Alternative Gulf airports available for rebooking

Both airlines have identified alternative departure and arrival airports for passengers seeking to modify their travel arrangements.

Air India: Travellers may rebook their journeys to or from Dubai or Doha, subject to availability.

Air India Express: Passengers can select from a wider range of alternative airports, including Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Bahrain, Doha, Dubai, Kuwait, Muscat, Ras Al Khaimah, Salalah and Sharjah.

Passengers opting to travel through an alternative airport will be responsible for arranging their own transportation to the revised departure location.

They must also ensure that they possess the necessary visas and meet all applicable immigration and entry requirements for the country concerned.

How passengers can request refunds or change bookings

Travellers requiring assistance with ticket changes, alternative travel arrangements or refunds can contact the airlines through their customer service centres.

They may also visit the respective airlines’ city booking offices across the Gulf region and India.

Passengers can reach the airlines using the following contact numbers:

  • Air India: +91 11 6932 9333 / +91 11 6932 9999
  • Air India Express: +91 124 693 5600

Both carriers said they are continuing to assess the situation and will issue further announcements when necessary.

Passengers with upcoming bookings are advised to verify their flight status and confirm any revised travel arrangements directly with the airline before heading to the airport.
