Health Insurance Covers Post-Surgical Wound Care, IV Medications and Catheterisation Services.

Dubai: Saudi Arabia’s Council of Health Insurance has confirmed that the country’s mandatory health insurance scheme includes various home healthcare services, enabling eligible patients to access essential medical care following their discharge from hospital.
The council emphasised that healthcare support should continue beyond a patient’s hospital stay, allowing those who qualify to receive necessary treatment and assistance in the comfort of their homes during recovery.
Services covered under the policy include urinary catheterisation, administration of intravenous medications after surgery and post-surgical wound management. These benefits help patients maintain continuity of care while reducing the need for repeated hospital visits.
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health has also launched an online application system for patients seeking home healthcare services, simplifying access to essential medical assistance while allowing them to recover at home with their families.
The initiative is intended to ensure uninterrupted medical support, improve patient convenience and facilitate recovery while minimising the need for frequent hospital visits.
In addition, the ministry offers a wide range of home-based healthcare services tailored to different patient needs. These include physiotherapy, nutritional assistance, respiratory therapy and medication management.
Saudi health officials emphasised that home healthcare programmes aim to deliver safe, comprehensive and consistent medical support beyond hospital facilities. The services are also designed to enhance patients’ recovery experiences while providing greater convenience and support for their families.
