Dubai: Saudi Arabia’s air defence forces successfully intercepted and destroyed four cruise missiles and five drones during separate operations on Tuesday, according to the Saudi-led coalition backing Yemen’s internationally recognised government.

The coalition’s Joint Forces Command reported that four cruise missiles were detected and neutralised over Riyadh and southern parts of Saudi Arabia.

In a follow-up statement, the coalition announced that two additional drones had been intercepted and destroyed in the same areas.

Earlier on Tuesday, the coalition announced that three drones had been intercepted and destroyed north of Riyadh, raising the total number of drones neutralised throughout the day to five.

The coalition reiterated its determination to safeguard Saudi Arabia’s airspace and defend the Kingdom against potential future threats.
