Abu Dhabi Partners with Ultrahuman to Develop Model for Estimating Biological Age

Wearable Technology and Clinical Data to Assess How Sleep, Metabolism and Heart Health Influence Ageing.

Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi is working on an innovative health assessment model designed to help individuals determine their biological age, offering insights into how their bodies are ageing beyond their actual age in years.

The Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC) has joined forces with health technology company Ultrahuman Healthcare to develop and validate a Biological Health Age model that integrates clinical biomarkers with health information collected through wearable technology.

The initiative aims to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the ageing process by analysing key health indicators, including cardiovascular function, sleep patterns, metabolic health and physical recovery.

While chronological age represents the number of years a person has lived, biological age reflects the body’s overall physiological condition.

By evaluating various health measurements, the proposed model could help identify whether an individual’s body is ageing more rapidly or slowly than typically expected for their chronological age.

Combining Wearable Technology with Clinical Health Data

The Biological Health Age model will bring together continuously monitored health information from wearable devices and clinical test results to deliver more personalised assessments of an individual’s health and ageing patterns.

This integrated approach is intended to provide a broader view of physical well-being by examining both everyday health trends and clinically measured indicators.

The Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC) stated that the data gathered through the initiative could eventually help healthcare professionals identify potential health risks earlier, develop more effective preventive measures and provide personalised health recommendations.

The collaboration between ADPHC and Ultrahuman Healthcare will continue for two years, during which both organisations will conduct joint scientific studies and clinical validation to assess the model’s effectiveness and reliability.

ADPHC emphasised that all health information collected as part of the project will remain within Abu Dhabi and be managed in accordance with strict confidentiality, data governance and privacy protection requirements.

Dr Rashed Obaid Alsuwaidi, Director General of ADPHC, highlighted that the partnership represents an important step towards transforming public healthcare through predictive approaches, preventive strategies and timely medical interventions.

He explained that gaining a deeper understanding of population ageing and identifying the factors that contribute to longer, healthier lives are essential to advancing this approach.

Mohit Kumar, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Ultrahuman Healthcare, said the initiative would bring together continuous health monitoring technologies and Abu Dhabi’s established healthcare infrastructure to develop a more comprehensive understanding of biological ageing.

The Biological Health Age model remains in the research and clinical validation stage.

ADPHC has not yet confirmed when the technology could be introduced to the public or how individuals might eventually access the assessment.
