Dubai Fog Alert: Police Urge Drivers to Exercise Caution

Date:

UAE Motorists Urged to Follow Road Safety Measures as Fog Reduces Visibility.

Dubai Police advised motorists to exercise additional caution on Tuesday morning, October 6, as fog developed across several parts of the emirate, leading to reduced visibility on the roads.

In messages shared on X, police reminded drivers to follow road safety guidelines and remain alert while travelling in foggy conditions. The force stressed that greater awareness behind the wheel is essential to ensuring motorists reach their destinations safely.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) also recorded fog in a number of locations across the UAE. Affected areas included Al Shuwaib in Al Ain, Martyrs Street, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Street, Emirates Road in Ras Al Khaimah, as well as several parts of Dubai.

Motorists are advised to reduce their speed, maintain a safe following distance and use low-beam headlights when driving through fog. Sudden lane changes should be avoided, while hazard lights should not be used when the vehicle is in motion.

Drivers are also reminded to comply with temporary or variable speed limits displayed on electronic road signs. Before starting their journey, motorists should check official police and weather updates for the latest information on visibility and road conditions.

Fog is a regular feature of the UAE’s cooler season, typically developing during the late-night and early-morning hours. It usually begins to clear after sunrise as temperatures increase and visibility gradually improves.
