The investigation is underway in coordination with the GCAA and relevant authorities.
Abu Dhabi: UAE Attorney-General Counsellor Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi has ordered the formation of a specialised Public Prosecution team to investigate an incident involving flydubai flight FZ1073 on Wednesday.
The flight was travelling from Dubai International Airport to Tel Aviv when it was diverted to Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia, where it landed safely.
The decision came after flydubai reported that an altercation had taken place in the flight deck during the journey. Crew members who were travelling on board intervened to bring the situation under control and secure the aircraft.
The investigation is now underway in coordination with the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and other relevant UAE authorities.
The Attorney-General instructed the investigation team to take all necessary measures to collect information and evidence, establish the facts, and determine the circumstances and motives behind the incident.
Investigators will also examine whether the incident had any connection to terrorist activity or intent and whether it involved any prior planning or direction.
Al Shamsi said the investigation remains ongoing and urged the public to avoid speculation or sharing unverified information until the competent authorities have completed their inquiries and established the facts.
He also cautioned against drawing premature conclusions, stressing that the public should rely only on information and statements released through official sources.
UAE judicial authorities have jurisdiction over the investigation under the country’s applicable laws, as the aircraft is registered in the UAE and operates under the UAE flag.
As a result, UAE law applies to offences committed on board the aircraft, including those that may occur outside the country’s territorial boundaries.
