EGA to initially ship up to 250,000 tonnes of aluminium through the East Coast.
Dubai: Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) will transport up to 250,000 tonnes of aluminium through the UAE’s East Coast during the first year of a new agreement with Gulftainer. The volume is expected to increase to as much as 300,000 tonnes in the second year.
The agreement provides EGA with an additional route to export aluminium to international customers, supporting the company’s efforts to enhance the efficiency and resilience of its outbound logistics network.
EGA’s aluminium is the UAE’s largest domestically produced export after oil and gas. The company serves more than 400 customers across over 50 countries.
East Coast export volumes to rise
Under the agreement, the volume of aluminium handled through the East Coast could increase further in the years ahead.
Gulftainer will also continue developing its port capabilities to accommodate EGA’s requirements as export volumes grow.
EGA sold more than 2.83 million tonnes of cast metal in 2025, highlighting the scale of its logistics requirements as it serves customers around the world.

Broader export network
The agreement expands EGA’s shipping capacity through the UAE’s East Coast as the company continues to diversify the routes it uses to deliver aluminium to customers in international markets.

EGA is the UAE’s largest industrial company outside the oil and gas sector and says it is the world’s largest producer of premium aluminium.
