30 nations join forces in global crackdown on AI-enabled fraud.
Abu Dhabi: The Ministry of Interior has announced the continuation of “Operation Confrontation Ghost,” bringing together 30 countries, two international organisations, and 13 partners from the private and technology sectors.
The operation focuses on tackling emerging forms of fraud, including AI-enabled scams, online sextortion, and financial fraud carried out through digital platforms. It facilitates real-time intelligence sharing, tracks evolving fraud trends, and leverages specialised expertise to detect and respond to threats swiftly and accurately, while ensuring compliance with data protection standards.
Lt. Colonel Saeed Khalfan Al Kaabi, Director of the International Cooperation Department, said collaboration between law enforcement agencies and private-sector partners plays a key role in detecting, monitoring and preventing fraud. He said the cross-border nature of such crimes makes swift and effective coordination between the relevant authorities essential.
He said the UAE continues to support global efforts to tackle fraud through its membership in the Global Anti-Scam Alliance, which includes more than 90 countries as well as partners from the technology and financial services sectors. The alliance facilitates the exchange of expertise and helps members stay informed about emerging fraud techniques and the latest technologies used to counter them.
Al Kaabi reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to expanding cooperation with international partners and relevant organisations, with a focus on accelerating response times and strengthening coordination in the fight against fraud and cross-border financial crimes.
