Saudi Arabia Expects Rain Across Multiple Regions Through the End of the Week.
Dubai: Several parts of Saudi Arabia are expected to experience rain and thunderstorms through the end of the week, while isolated thundershowers are forecast over Oman’s Al Hajar Mountains on Tuesday and Wednesday.
In the UAE, the National Centre of Meteorology is monitoring the possibility of rainfall over eastern areas, with conditions expected to become mostly fair to partly cloudy through Friday.
Saudi Arabia’s National Center for Meteorology said its numerical weather model indicates rainfall across parts of Jazan, Asir, Al Baha, Mecca and Medina through the end of the week.
The forecast also shows chances of rain in parts of Tabuk, Al Jouf, Hail and the Northern Borders during the same period.
Authorities have advised residents to keep track of official weather forecasts and alerts for the latest information on changing conditions and areas that could be affected.
Earlier on Monday, Saudi Arabia’s National Center for Meteorology forecast moderate to heavy thunderstorms across parts of Jazan, Asir, Al Baha and Mecca. The unsettled weather could also bring flash floods, hail and strong winds to some areas. Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall was expected in parts of Medina.
Weather warnings were issued for several regions on Monday, with some alerts remaining in effect into Tuesday.
What is the weather forecast for Oman?
Oman is expected to see a shorter spell of unsettled weather.
On Tuesday, conditions are forecast to be clear to partly cloudy along the Dhofar coast and nearby mountainous areas, while predominantly clear skies are expected across the rest of the country.
During Tuesday afternoon, clouds could form over parts of Oman’s Al Hajar Mountains, bringing isolated thundershowers and downdraft winds. The unsettled conditions may also extend towards nearby desert areas.
A similar weather pattern is expected on Wednesday, with clouds developing over parts of the Al Hajar Mountains and a possibility of isolated thundershowers.
Late at night and during the early morning, low clouds and patches of fog could also form along sections of the Arabian Sea and Oman Sea coasts.
Oman’s available forecast covers Tuesday and Wednesday, with no indication at this stage that thunderstorm activity will continue through the rest of the week.
Could this weather affect the UAE?
The UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology is forecasting a possibility of rain on Tuesday. However, its four-day outlook does not suggest that thunderstorms affecting Saudi Arabia or Oman will directly move into the UAE.
Tuesday is expected to be fair to partly cloudy, with a chance of convective clouds forming over eastern parts of the country during the afternoon. These clouds could bring rainfall to some areas.
Humidity is expected to increase overnight and into Wednesday morning across some coastal and inland areas, creating a possibility of fog or mist.
Winds are forecast to remain light to moderate, blowing from the south-east to north-east and occasionally reaching speeds of up to 35kph.
Sea conditions are expected to be slight in the Arabian Gulf and slight to moderate in the Oman Sea.
UAE weather outlook through Friday
On Wednesday, conditions across the UAE are expected to remain fair to partly cloudy, with some cloud formation over eastern areas.
Humidity is forecast to increase overnight and into Thursday morning across parts of the coast and interior, bringing another possibility of fog or mist. Winds may reach speeds of up to 35kph, while conditions in the Oman Sea could turn rough at times.
Thursday is also expected to be fair to partly cloudy, with clouds developing over eastern parts of the country. Humidity will increase overnight and into Friday morning, particularly across some western coastal and inland areas, where fog or mist could form.
By Friday, generally fair to partly cloudy conditions are expected to continue, with clouds appearing over eastern areas. Winds may reach speeds of up to 30kph, while seas are forecast to remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea.
Based on the latest official forecasts, Saudi Arabia is expected to experience the longest period of unsettled weather, with chances of rain continuing through the end of the week.
In Oman, isolated thunderstorms are possible on Tuesday and Wednesday. The UAE, meanwhile, could see localised rainfall over eastern areas on Tuesday before conditions settle into a mostly fair to partly cloudy pattern through Friday.
At present, official forecasts do not indicate that the thunderstorms affecting parts of Saudi Arabia and Oman will directly extend into the UAE.
