Heavy rain, flash floods, hail and dust storms expected across parts of Saudi Arabia.
Dubai: Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defence has advised residents to remain cautious as thunderstorms and heavy rainfall are expected across most parts of the Kingdom through Friday, bringing the possibility of flash floods, hail and dust storms.
The General Directorate of Civil Defence urged people to stay in safe locations, avoid valleys and flood-prone areas, and refrain from swimming in floodwaters or other places that could pose a risk during severe weather.
Residents have also been advised to monitor official media and social media channels for the latest weather alerts and follow safety guidance issued by the authorities.
The National Centre for Meteorology (NCM) has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall across parts of the Mecca region, with unstable conditions potentially leading to flash floods, hail and dust storms.
Areas likely to be affected include the holy city of Mecca, Al Kamil, Al Jumum, Bahrah, Taif, Maysan, Adham and Al Ardiyat. Meanwhile, Al Lith and Al Qunfudhah are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall.
Moderate to heavy rain is also forecast across Jazan, Asir, Al Baha and Madinah, where there is a risk of flash flooding, hail and winds strong enough to raise dust and reduce visibility.
Hail, Tabuk, Al Jouf and the Northern Borders are expected to see lighter conditions, with light to moderate rainfall forecast during the period.
Authorities have advised residents and motorists in affected areas to remain vigilant as weather conditions develop and to follow official warnings and safety instructions throughout the period.
