IndiGo’s Higher Add-On Fees to Impact Families, Solo Minors and Travellers with Extra Baggage.
Indian carrier IndiGo has revised fees for a range of optional and special services, raising charges for excess baggage, infant travel, unaccompanied minors, and priority check-in and boarding.
The changes are expected to increase travel expenses for passengers who rely on these additional services. Families travelling with infants, children flying without an accompanying adult, and passengers carrying baggage beyond their allowance could be among those most affected, according to reports in Indian media.
International passengers face higher fees
The revised fee structure will also affect passengers travelling on IndiGo’s international routes, with higher charges applying to several optional and additional services.
For international journeys, IndiGo has revised the fee for its unaccompanied minor service to Rs 12,999, increasing the cost for families whose children travel alone.
The airline has also updated the price of its Fast Forward service, which provides priority check-in and boarding. International passengers opting for the service will now pay Rs 850 per sector.
For domestic flights, IndiGo’s Fast Forward service, which provides priority check-in and boarding, will now cost Rs 650 per sector, according to media reports.
Excess baggage charge rises to Rs 800 per kg
Passengers exceeding their permitted baggage allowance will now be charged Rs 800 for each additional kilogram, compared with the previous rate of Rs 700 per kg.
The excess baggage fee applies to luggage carried beyond the allowance included with the passenger’s booking and is charged separately from the base airfare.
Passengers planning to travel with additional luggage should check the baggage allowance included with their fare and review the applicable excess baggage rates in advance to avoid unexpected costs at the airport.
Infant travel charges revised
IndiGo has updated its ticket charges for infants aged between three days and two years.
Although infants do not receive a separate seat, a ticket is still required for travel. The amount charged varies depending on how the booking is made, with revised rates applying to both advance bookings and tickets arranged at the airport counter.

Unaccompanied minor service becomes costlier
IndiGo has also raised fees for its unaccompanied minor service, increasing travel costs for families whose children are flying without an accompanying adult.
For domestic flights, IndiGo’s unaccompanied minor service for children aged five to 12 will now cost Rs5,999, up from the previous charge of Rs5,000.
On international routes, the service has been revised to Rs12,999.

Fast Forward priority service
Passengers choosing IndiGo’s Fast Forward service will also face higher charges under the revised fee structure. The add-on provides priority check-in and boarding for travellers looking to move through airport formalities more quickly.

Travel certificate fee rises
IndiGo has also revised the charge for issuing a travel certificate, increasing the fee from Rs200 to Rs300.
These charges are separate from the airline’s standard ticket price and baggage allowance. Passengers will incur the additional costs only when they use the relevant optional or special services.
