New GQX Event to Bring Together Global Quantum Innovators and Cybersecurity Experts.
Dubai: Global Quantum X (GQX) by GITEX, in partnership with the UAE Cyber Security Council, has announced a new event dedicated entirely to quantum technology, set to launch in 2027.
The event will bring together governments, quantum technology companies, national cybersecurity authorities, research institutions, businesses and investors on a single platform. Discussions will focus on both the commercial opportunities emerging from quantum technology and the cybersecurity frameworks needed to address the risks associated with its rapid development.
Organisers say GQX will explore how the emerging quantum sector could generate trillions of dollars in global economic value while helping governments and businesses prepare for new security challenges.
Dr Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of the UAE Cyber Security Council, said the launch of Global Quantum X will provide an international platform to advance quantum-safe migration, strengthen sovereign cryptographic capabilities and assess national preparedness. He added that the initiative aims to help governments and businesses narrow the gap between existing cybersecurity defences and emerging quantum-era threats.
Quantum Technology Set to Shape a New Era
Global Quantum X will take place alongside GISEC 2027 as governments and businesses worldwide increase their focus on quantum security and preparedness.
According to McKinsey’s Quantum Technology Monitor 2026, around one-third of global enterprises are already investing more than $10 million annually in quantum initiatives. The technology is projected to generate as much as $2.7 trillion in economic value over the next decade.
The event comes as quantum technologies move closer to widespread commercial adoption, creating a parallel need for stronger security frameworks, governance standards and cryptographic capabilities to manage emerging risks and support their responsible deployment.
Trixie LohMirmand, Executive Vice President of inD, organiser of GISEC Global and GQX, said the enormous computing power offered by quantum technology could drive major advances in areas such as medicine, materials science and finance.
However, she warned that the same capabilities could also threaten existing encryption systems, making it increasingly important for quantum development and cybersecurity strategies to advance together.
