New guide details textbooks and learning resources for each grade in the 2026-27 academic year.
Dubai: The UAE Ministry of Education has approved a new guide outlining the textbooks and learning resources students will receive during the 2026-27 academic year, providing schools and families with a central reference for the materials required at each grade level.
The Student Curriculum Book Package Guide outlines three main components of each student’s learning package, details a four-stage process for distributing textbooks and provides five guidelines for keeping books in good condition throughout the academic year.
The guide also sets out procedures for schools to follow when textbooks are lost or damaged.
The ministry said the guide was developed to support an integrated learning environment and enhance the quality of education by ensuring students have access to a complete, approved curriculum in line with the objectives of UAE Vision 2031.
It is designed to help students, parents and school administrations verify that all required textbooks have been received, keep the materials in good condition throughout the academic year and raise awareness of the value of printed educational resources.
Printed and digital materials
Each student’s learning package consists of three components: printed textbooks, educational resources and learning kits, and electronic books available through the Smart Learning Platform.
The approach combines printed and digital materials into a single learning package tailored to the requirements of each grade.
The ministry has also established a four-stage process for distributing textbooks.
First, the contracted supplier will deliver the required books to schools across the UAE according to an approved schedule. Schools must then verify that the quantities received match the actual number of students at each educational stage.
The third stage involves formally approving the delivery and receipt documents with the textbook distributor. In the final stage, schools distribute the books to students based on the approved package for each grade and educational stage.
Lost or damaged books
The guide distinguishes between books that are lost or damaged accidentally and those affected deliberately.
If a textbook is unintentionally lost or damaged, the student must submit a formal request to the school administration. The school will assess the circumstances and take the necessary steps to arrange a replacement.
For books that are deliberately lost or damaged, replacements will be requested from the approved supplier, with the related costs charged accordingly.
The ministry has divided the first-term textbook lists for the 2026-27 academic year into three categories.
The first category covers electronic books only. The second includes both printed and electronic books for schools in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, while the third covers printed and electronic books for schools in Abu Dhabi.
Students, parents and schools can also access the approved textbook lists by scanning the QR code provided in the guide.
