Convective clouds to bring rain to eastern and southern UAE as dust and strong winds return.
Dubai: Rain is expected in parts of the UAE on Tuesday as temperatures rise to 48°C, with unsettled weather forecast to continue through the week. Winds are also expected to strengthen, reaching up to 55km/h on Wednesday.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said Tuesday would see fair to partly cloudy skies, with convective clouds forming over eastern and southern areas in the afternoon, bringing the possibility of rainfall.
The forecast comes after rainfall was recorded in parts of Al Ain on Monday, including Sa’a, Al Fou’ah and along Khatm Al Shakla Road, as summer convective weather continued to affect the UAE’s eastern regions.
The UAE is currently being affected by an extension of a surface low-pressure system from the east, accompanied by an upper-air low-pressure system.
Temperatures are expected to remain high, particularly in inland areas, where maximums could reach 44°C to 48°C. Coastal areas and islands are forecast to see temperatures of 38°C to 43°C, while mountain regions could record highs of 33°C to 37°C.
Winds will be light to moderate, becoming stronger at times around convective clouds and reaching up to 45km/h in inland and mountainous areas, with the potential to stir up dust. Humidity is expected to rise overnight, with a chance of mist forming over some western coastal areas on Wednesday morning. Seas will remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
Weather conditions are forecast to become more unsettled on Wednesday, as rain-bearing convective clouds could move from eastern and southern areas into parts of the interior. Winds may reach 55km/h, potentially causing blowing dust and sand.
Rain will remain possible across eastern and southern areas on Thursday, while convective clouds are expected mainly in the east on Friday, bringing another chance of rainfall. Further rain is possible on Saturday.
