Turkey strengthens trade ties with Islamic nations as Ankara seeks to boost its export share.
ISTANBUL: Turkey’s Ministry of Trade said the country’s exports to the 57 member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) reached $41.5 billion between January and July 2026, up $345.7 million from the same period a year earlier.
Total trade between Turkey and OIC countries also increased 2.2 per cent year-on-year to $69.2 billion, highlighting the growing commercial ties between Ankara and the Islamic world.
The Ministry attributed the growth to the continued implementation of its Strategy for Developing Exports with OIC Members, a framework incorporated into the government’s 2026–2028 Medium Term Programme.
Under the strategy, Turkey aims to increase the share of OIC countries in its total exports from the current 27 per cent to 30 per cent by 2028.
