Heavy Rush-Hour Traffic Hits Dubai-Sharjah Routes as E11 and E311 Face Delays

Date:

E11 sees slow-moving traffic around Al Khan, Al Mamzar and Al Ittihad Road.

Dubai-Sharjah traffic is heavy this morning, with Google Maps indicating significant congestion on E11 and E311 as commuters travel between the two emirates. Delays are particularly noticeable around major interchanges, industrial areas and routes approaching the Dubai-Sharjah border.

On E11, traffic is moving slowly and intermittently around Al Khan, Al Mamzar and the Al Ittihad Road corridor. Red stretches are mainly visible near junctions and merging points, while yellow sections indicate slower-than-usual traffic. Motorists travelling between Sharjah and northern Dubai should expect delays around highway ramps, especially where local roads merge with the main routes.

E311, or Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, is also experiencing significant congestion. Google Maps shows long stretches of heavy traffic around Sharjah’s Industrial Area, extending south towards Muhaisnah.

Several incident markers are visible along the route, including near key junctions. These incidents appear to be adding to the delays, with traffic slowing further as motorists merge or divert onto nearby roads.

The congestion is also affecting roads beyond the main highways. Routes around Industrial Area 4 and nearby Sharjah districts are showing a mix of yellow, red and green sections, indicating uneven traffic conditions across the local road network.

Motorists heading towards E311 may face delays before reaching the highway, while those exiting the route could encounter queues at ramps and junctions.

Around Al Falaj, Dasman and Al Jazeera, traffic is moving through parts of the interchange network but slowing at key merging points.

Google Maps is also showing several road incidents, so motorists are advised to drive carefully, avoid abrupt lane changes and maintain extra distance around affected areas. Traffic conditions can change quickly during the morning rush, particularly when an incident blocks a lane or forces drivers to take alternative routes.

A temporary diversion between Sharjah Industrial Areas 12 and 13 is also in effect until August 30 for road improvement works, according to Sharjah authorities. The diversion could add further pressure to surrounding roads.

Overall, the traffic situation points to a difficult Dubai-Sharjah commute, with E11 and E311 emerging as the main congestion hotspots. Drivers should allow additional travel time and check live navigation conditions before setting out. E611 could offer an alternative for some journeys, although its suitability will depend on the destination and traffic conditions at the time of travel.
