Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez opted for an intimate family wedding, exchanging vows in their home’s living room with their children by their side. The couple said they wanted the ceremony to feel personal and true to their everyday lives, rather than hosting a lavish traditional celebration, creating a meaningful family memory to cherish for years to come.

Why Ronaldo and Georgina chose to marry at home

Rodríguez explained that the couple chose their living room because it is where their family spends time together and shares everyday moments.

“We decided to hold the ceremony in our home’s living room, the place where we eat together and experience the everyday moments of family life,” Rodríguez told Vogue in an interview published Sunday.

She said she wanted their children to look back on the wedding as a cherished family memory. Rodríguez explained that she hoped, decades later, they would remember the table as the place where their parents exchanged their vows.

Ronaldo, 41, added a light-hearted touch, joking that the table might not survive unchanged for 30 years as they could eventually redecorate their home.

Private ceremony before a bigger celebration

Ronaldo and Rodríguez, 32, reportedly tied the knot on August 10, exactly 10 years after they first met at a Gucci store in Madrid, where Rodríguez was working.

Rodríguez said the couple may celebrate with a larger gathering for family and friends in the future, but they wanted their first ceremony to remain intimate, private and deeply personal.

She explained that the past year had been hectic, with football commitments, professional work, competitions and raising their children. Given their busy lives, she felt an intimate wedding was the perfect choice for the couple and their family.

Ronaldo hints that retirement could be approaching

The wedding comes at a significant moment in Ronaldo’s personal and professional life, with the Portugal captain recently hinting that his illustrious football career may be nearing its end.

Speaking to Vogue, Ronaldo said the current season could “probably” be his final year in football, adding that he wants to leave behind a “spectacular legacy.”

The Al Nassr forward, 41, has previously acknowledged that retirement is getting closer, although he has yet to confirm a definitive date for ending his career.

Planning life after football

Ronaldo said he has already begun planning for life after football, with a focus on spending more time with his family and pursuing interests outside the sport.

“I have my future all mapped out,” he told Vogue, revealing plans to travel more, play padel and enjoy the rewards of a career built on 25 years of sacrifice.

He has also previously suggested that the 2026 World Cup could be his final appearance at the tournament.

A career defined by records

Ronaldo began his professional career at Sporting CP before going on to play for Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus. He joined Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr in January 2023.

His nine-year spell at Real Madrid stands out as the most prolific period of his career. In 438 appearances for the Spanish giants, he scored a record 450 goals and cemented his status as one of football’s most decorated and influential players.

Family remains Ronaldo and Georgina’s priority

Family continues to be at the heart of Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez’s lives. Ronaldo is the father of Cristiano Ronaldo Jr., 16, and twins Eva and Mateo, 9, who were born via surrogacy in 2017.

He and Rodríguez also have daughters Alana, 8, and Bella, 4. Their son, Ángel, died at birth, a loss Rodríguez has previously described in her documentary series I Am Georgina as one of the most difficult experiences of her life.

Despite the tragedy, Rodríguez has said that her family remains her greatest priority and that she is grateful for the life they have built together.
