DP World ILT20 Season 5 set for November 22 to December 20.
Sharjah Warriorz have appointed experienced franchise cricket coach Adrian Birrell as their new head coach ahead of Season 5 of the DP World ILT20, which will run from November 22 to December 20.
A proven winner on the T20 franchise circuit, Birrell joins the Warriorz as the franchise looks to begin a new chapter and mount a challenge for its first ILT20 title.
Widely regarded as one of the most successful coaches in modern franchise cricket, Birrell has built an impressive record of developing championship-winning teams.
Most notably, he guided Sunrisers Eastern Cape to three SA20 titles, making them the most successful franchise in the competition and establishing the team as one of the dominant forces in global T20 cricket. His ability to build winning cultures, maximise player potential and consistently deliver results has cemented his reputation as one of the game’s leading coaches.
Birrell has also enjoyed success on the international stage. He guided Ireland to the Super Eight stage of the 2007 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup following their historic victory over Pakistan, and later served as assistant coach of the South African national team.
He also spent seven successful years as head coach of Hampshire in English county cricket, further strengthening his extensive coaching credentials.
Birrell’s appointment marks a new chapter for Sharjah Warriorz, with the franchise reaffirming its commitment to creating a high-performance environment capable of competing at the highest level of the DP World ILT20.
With one of franchise cricket’s most decorated coaches at the helm, the Warriorz enter Season 5 with renewed ambition and a clear goal of challenging for the championship.
