The web-slinging hero continues to deliver blockbuster returns for Marvel.
Tom Holland’s latest turn as the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man is racing towards the coveted $1 billion global box office milestone following a record-breaking opening weekend.
According to Box Office Mojo, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has earned an impressive $927 million worldwide, including $355 million in North America and $572 million from international markets. The Marvel-Sony release has recorded the second-biggest global opening of all time, trailing only Avengers: Endgame.
In India, the superhero spectacle has crossed the Rs 250 crore net mark within just four days, cementing its position as one of the biggest Hollywood releases in the country’s history.
Trade tracker Sacnilk reported that Spider-Man: Brand New Day collected Rs 76 crore net on Sunday across 18,051 shows nationwide. The film’s India net collection now stands at Rs 256.20 crore, while its India gross total has reached Rs 306.37 crore.
The film continues to attract its largest audiences through the English-language version, while the Hindi dubbed release is also delivering strong numbers, especially across major multiplex chains nationwide.
With no major Hollywood competitor arriving this week and audience interest showing no signs of slowing, the film is expected to record one of the strongest first Monday performances ever for an international release in India.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh described the box office response as a “tsunami at the box office” on X, highlighting the film’s exceptional momentum. He noted that Saturday collections had already surpassed Thursday’s record-breaking opening-day figures — a rare achievement that reflects the scale of audience demand.
Adarsh also pointed to another major milestone ahead: Avengers: Endgame earned Rs 260.40 crore net during its first week in India, a figure that Spider-Man: Brand New Day is expected to cross on Monday, its fifth day in theatres.
If achieved, the Tom Holland-led superhero film will set yet another benchmark for Hollywood releases in the Indian market.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day features Tom Holland returning as Peter Parker, alongside Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon and Jon Favreau.
However, the film could potentially mark Holland’s final appearance as the web-slinging superhero. The actor has previously revealed that he already has a vision for how he would like to pass on Spider-Man’s legacy to the next performer who takes on the iconic role.
Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Holland said discussions about the character’s future have been underway since the release of 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.
“There’s a whole plan that we have been working on for, I would say, since we finished [Spider-Man: No Way Home],” Holland said. “It’s laid out. It’s going to change for sure, but I have a really clear vision to the passing on of the baton, and I think it’s really exciting.”
