NCM forecasts convective clouds, dust winds and scattered showers through Friday.
Dubai: Temperatures across the UAE are expected to soar to 50°C today, while afternoon convective clouds may bring scattered rainfall to parts of the eastern and southern regions, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
The NCM forecast fair to partly cloudy conditions, with light to moderate south-easterly to north-easterly winds ranging from 10 to 25 km/h. Winds may strengthen at times, reaching 40 km/h inland, creating blowing dust in exposed areas.
Sea conditions are expected to remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
Temperatures are forecast to reach 45°C to 50°C in inland areas, 42°C to 47°C along coastal areas and islands, and 33°C to 39°C in mountainous regions.
The current weather pattern is being driven by an extension of a surface low-pressure system from the east, along with an upper-air low-pressure system, creating favourable conditions for the development of afternoon convective clouds.
Similar weather conditions are expected to continue through Friday, with chances of convective clouds and rainfall over eastern and southern areas, and at times extending to western and internal regions.
Winds are forecast to strengthen during the middle of the week, reaching speeds of up to 50 km/h on Wednesday and Thursday, potentially causing blowing dust and reduced visibility in some areas. Sea conditions are expected to remain slight throughout the period.
