More than half of UAE-registered aircraft belong to national carriers, with 554 in the fleet.
Dubai: The UAE National Aircraft Registry has crossed the 1,000-aircraft milestone for the first time, after the registration of aircraft number 1,001, according to the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
National carriers account for 554 aircraft, making up more than 55% of the UAE’s total registered fleet.
“Crossing the milestone of 1,000 registered aircraft is a major achievement for the UAE and reflects the continued expansion of our civil aviation sector, as well as the confidence that airlines, aircraft owners and operators worldwide place in the country’s regulatory framework,” said Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the GCAA.
He added that the milestone highlights the success of the UAE’s long-term vision to build an environment that supports sustainable growth, innovation and global competitiveness.
GCAA strengthens digital aviation services
The authority said it is continuing efforts to modernise aviation regulations, streamline procedures and enhance digital aircraft registration services to support the sector’s ongoing growth.
Eng. Aqeel Al Zarooni, Assistant Director General for Aviation Safety Affairs at the GCAA, said the UAE’s aircraft registry operates in full alignment with international standards.
“This milestone reflects the maturity, efficiency and global credibility of the UAE’s aircraft registration system. By adhering to international standards, the system provides streamlined, transparent and dependable services that address the evolving needs of aircraft owners and operators,” he said.
The GCAA said future enhancements will focus on advancing digital transformation, updating regulations and strengthening risk-based oversight, while continuing to uphold the highest standards of safety and compliance.
