Aid covered cancer care, kidney failure treatment, surgeries, and other critical medical procedures.
Sharjah Charity International provided medical aid worth over Dh23.5 million to 799 patients in the first half of the year, helping individuals with serious health conditions receive necessary treatment while easing the financial pressures of healthcare expenses.
The assistance was offered through the charity’s medical aid programme, which supports patients unable to cover treatment costs, including surgeries, specialised medications and ongoing healthcare needs.
Mohamed Salim Al Manaei, Director of the Aid Department at Sharjah Charity International, said healthcare continues to be a key focus area for the organisation, reflecting its commitment to ensuring access to treatment as a fundamental humanitarian need and reducing patients’ hardships through charitable efforts.
He noted that the programme assists patients across various critical medical fields, with support provided based on medical reports submitted by applicants and thorough evaluations conducted in collaboration with accredited healthcare institutions.
Al Manaei said the charity ensures its resources reach those most in need by working with a network of healthcare institutions known for providing high-quality medical services with strong local and international standing.
Support for kidney failure and cancer patients
Al Manaei stated that the charity assisted 192 kidney failure patients by covering dialysis treatment expenses worth Dh5.7 million. He stressed that kidney failure requires regular dialysis sessions and ongoing medical monitoring, making financial support crucial for patients requiring long-term care.
The charity also allocated Dh5.5 million towards the treatment of 140 cancer patients, while Dh3.4 million was provided to support 51 patients battling life-threatening illnesses.
In addition, Sharjah Charity covered surgical expenses for 86 patients, with total costs reaching Dh2.3 million, and allocated Dh1.8 million to support patients requiring organ transplant procedures.
Comprehensive healthcare assistance
The medical aid programme also extended support to patients with chronic illnesses, eye conditions, and other specialised medical needs.
The charity provided Dh1.1 million in treatment assistance to 78 patients with chronic diseases, while 57 patients with eye-related conditions received support worth over Dh820,000.
Additional aid was provided to patients suffering from heart diseases, neurological disorders, bone-related conditions, and other cases requiring specialised medical care and continuous follow-up.
Beyond covering treatment expenses, Sharjah Charity also supported 55 maternity and fertility treatment cases, with total costs amounting to Dh448,000.
The organisation further assisted 33 patients by clearing medical-related debts worth Dh331,000, while also providing medical equipment and dental care to address a wide range of healthcare requirements.
