ADNOC has launched a global LNG platform aiming to reach 47 mtpa by 2035.

Date:

The new Abu Dhabi platform integrates ADNOC Gas, XRG, and trading teams under one structure.

Dubai: ADNOC has established a global liquefied natural gas marketing and trading platform at Abu Dhabi Global Market, consolidating the LNG marketing functions of ADNOC Gas and XRG with the trading capabilities of ADNOC Trading.

The platform is intended to expand customer access to ADNOC and XRG’s LNG portfolio across supply, trading, and shipping, while also supporting ADNOC Gas’ growing LNG business, including upcoming volumes from the Ruwais LNG project.

ADNOC said the platform aims to reach 47 million tonnes per annum of combined marketable LNG by 2035, positioning it among the world’s leading LNG players and reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s role in global energy trading.

It creates a single LNG hub in Abu Dhabi by bringing long-term marketing under one commercial framework, while ADNOC Trading remains the counterparty for trading activities. The company added that existing customer interfaces will remain unchanged.

“With LNG demand expected to rise significantly, the world will require reliable, responsible, and large-scale suppliers,” said Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, ADNOC Managing Director and Group CEO, and XRG Executive Chairman. “This integrated, world-class LNG commercial platform combines ADNOC’s marketing, trading, and shipping strengths into a single global hub in Abu Dhabi. It represents a major shift in the scale, flexibility, and optionality of our LNG marketing and trading operations, further strengthening ADNOC’s ability to meet growing global energy demand.”

ADNOC Gas, XRG, and trading functions have been integrated under one structure. Rashid Al Mazrouei has been appointed Chief Marketing & Origination Officer for LNG, responsible for marketing the combined equity LNG portfolios of XRG and ADNOC Gas.

He will oversee long-term LNG marketing and origination from ADGM, coordinating with ADNOC Trading to centralize marketing activities within the unified platform.

The move builds on ADNOC Gas’ LNG supply operations since 1977, during which it has delivered over 3,500 cargoes globally. ADNOC said existing LNG commercial arrangements at ADNOC Gas will remain unchanged, while the new platform is expected to further optimise LNG marketing activities.

XRG’s expanding global LNG portfolio will also be integrated into the platform, supported by supply hubs and offices in London and Abu Dhabi.

Shipping to enhance global reach
Shipping will play a key role in managing ADNOC and XRG’s growing LNG portfolio. ADNOC Trading’s LNG shipping desk ranked among the world’s leading LNG charterers in both physical and freight derivatives in 2025.

ADNOC Logistics and Services has also grown its owned LNG fleet to 20 vessels, including 14 modern two-stroke carriers, strengthening the UAE’s LNG production capabilities and global trade connectivity.

ADNOC Trading has developed a substantial third-party LNG portfolio within four years and is ranked among the leading global LNG financial traders, with offices in Abu Dhabi, Singapore, and Geneva.
