Etihad Rail project: Sharjah announces temporary traffic diversions until August, including timelines and alternative routes.

Date:

Motorists are warned of possible delays as construction of the Etihad Rail access road continues to progress.

The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has announced a temporary traffic diversion from July 2026 to August 2026 as part of ongoing works on the Etihad Rail Station Access Roads Project.

The diversion will be in place between University City and Ard Al Maahid to support construction activities and improve future traffic flow in the area.

The initiative is part of wider infrastructure development plans aimed at improving connectivity, increasing road capacity, and ensuring smoother traffic flow once the project is completed.

Diversion in place until August

The traffic diversion will take effect from Saturday, July 4, 2026, and remain in place until Sunday, August 23, according to the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA). Motorists will be redirected through approved alternative routes detailed in the official traffic management plan.

Motorists using the corridor are advised to expect modified traffic patterns and possible delays during peak hours as construction work continues in the area.

Alternative routes and safety guidance

The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has urged all road users to strictly follow designated diversion routes and comply with traffic signage installed along the affected stretch.

Authorities stressed that adherence to instructions is essential to ensure the safety of both motorists and construction crews, while also helping maintain smoother traffic flow during the diversion period.

Drivers are advised to plan their journeys in advance, use alternative routes where possible, and exercise caution when passing through the affected area.
