Before temporarily closing for major redevelopment, the waterfront destination is inviting residents to a final celebration on June 21.
After three decades of sun-soaked afternoons and beachside nights that often stretched into morning, one of Dubai’s most recognisable beach clubs is taking a pause. Barasti, the Mina Seyahi landmark, has announced a temporary closure this June as it prepares for a major redevelopment, with plans to reopen in 2027 as a fully reimagined beachfront destination.
Long before Dubai Marina’s skyline filled with high-rises and new waterfront hotspots such as J1 Beach and Palm West Beach reshaped the coastline, Barasti had already built a reputation for its laid-back atmosphere and loyal following, drawing crowds with its signature beachside vibe.
Since opening in 1995, Barasti has hosted everything from global DJs such as Steve Aoki and Alan Walker to major sporting events, with packed World Cup screenings and experiences like the Corona Sunsets series attracting thousands of visitors.
Today, as Dubai’s beach club scene shifts toward curated luxury and Instagram-driven aesthetics, Barasti remains something of an outlier, having evolved with the city while retaining the relaxed spirit that made it popular. That balance is exactly what its upcoming transformation aims to preserve.
The reimagined Barasti will feature multiple zones designed to suit different moods and audiences, ranging from family-friendly daytime spaces to more premium, adult-oriented experiences after sunset. Alongside refreshed interiors and upgraded dining options, the concept aims to deliver a venue that transitions smoothly from sunrise breakfasts to sunset gatherings.
Importantly, the redevelopment also reflects the rapid transformation of the surrounding area. With Dubai Marina and Dubai Harbour continuing to grow as residential and lifestyle hubs, the new Barasti is expected to serve as a more versatile neighbourhood destination.
“Barasti is part of Dubai’s story,” said Ugur Lee Kanbur, multi-property general manager of Destination Mina Seyahi. “For 30 years, it has brought people together and created memories for generations of residents and visitors. We’re creating a destination that will honour that legacy while taking it to an entirely new level.”
Before redevelopment begins, the venue will host a final send-off. Scheduled for June 21, the “Barasti: Last Orders” event will run as a full-day celebration from 10am, featuring beachfront lounging, live DJs, drinks and a crowd representing generations of Dubai residents.
A farewell package priced at Dh150 will include three food items and five beverages, giving guests one last opportunity to experience a venue that has long been part of the city’s social landscape.
