A senior official said such behaviours are considered among the most serious traffic violations, as they leave other drivers with little time to react or avoid a collision.

Dubai Police apprehended a motorist after he was found driving recklessly, including sudden high-speed swerving, weaving between vehicles, and overtaking from the road shoulder.
Authorities said the driver, identified as an Asian national, put public safety at serious risk through these dangerous manoeuvres.
Dubai Police took legal action against the driver, including impounding the vehicle and applying the provisions of Local Decree No. (30) of 2023, which requires a Dh50,000 fine for the release of vehicles involved in such offences.
A senior Dubai Police official said such behaviours are among the most serious traffic violations, as they leave other drivers with little time to react, particularly on highways.
Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, explained that at high speeds, sudden swerving or loss of control can cause vehicles to overturn or result in severe collisions, often leading to fatalities and serious injuries.
He added that overtaking from the road shoulder is a serious offence, as the shoulder is reserved for emergencies, ambulances, and civil defence vehicles. Misuse of it can trigger sudden accidents and endanger road users.
He further noted that reckless high-speed driving, especially during unsafe lane changes, increases the risk of skidding, overturning, or colliding with other vehicles or roadside barriers.
Authorities also urged the public to report such dangerous driving through the “Police Eye” service or by contacting the “We Are All Police” hotline on 901.
