Saudi Arabia has expanded accessibility services for elderly and disabled pilgrims at the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina during the current Hajj 2026 season, aiming to improve mobility and ease of worship for visitors.

The services include electric and manual wheelchairs, along with dedicated transport carts operating along specially designated routes to help pilgrims move more easily within the mosque and its courtyards.

Authorities said that entrances, walkways, and elevators have been upgraded to support the movement of elderly worshippers and people with disabilities, alongside the provision of dedicated prayer spaces and accessible facilities.

Field support and guidance teams have been stationed across the central area surrounding the mosque to assist pilgrims in reaching prayer halls and service facilities, while also helping manage crowd flow during peak periods to ensure safety.

In addition, interactive maps accessible via QR codes have been introduced at mosque entrances, along with multilingual guidance services and specially equipped accessible restrooms.

These initiatives are part of broader transport, crowd management, healthcare, and emergency response plans designed to ensure a safe and accessible environment for pilgrims throughout the Hajj 2026 season.
