The first phase of the rollout features more than 500 curb- and pole-mounted cameras installed across key areas of Dubai.

Parkin, Dubai’s main public parking operator, has started deploying hundreds of AI-enabled cameras across busy districts to automate parking fee collection and monitor bay occupancy in real time.
The first phase of the rollout includes more than 500 curb- and pole-mounted cameras installed in high-traffic areas such as Burj Khalifa, Trade Centre 1 and Al Corniche. Powered by artificial intelligence, the system captures vehicle images and automatically reads number plates, allowing it to track parking duration and process payments without requiring driver input.
Parkin said the rollout marks the region’s first deployment of curb-side camera units designed to integrate seamlessly with existing street infrastructure. Alongside the on-street network, the company is also installing an additional 200 cameras in controlled parking lots across Dubai.
The devices are fully solar-powered, supporting Dubai’s broader push toward sustainable urban infrastructure. By recording vehicle entry and exit times, the system enables automatic payments through the Parkin app and its integrated digital wallet, removing the need for parking meters or SMS-based session activation.
Describing the initiative as a “smart step” in mobility management, Parkin CEO Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali said the rollout represents a major milestone in improving parking services across the emirate.
“This rollout marks an important step in scaling our smart parking infrastructure and strengthening how customers interact with parking across the Emirate,” he said, adding that the focus remains on delivering “seamless management for customers across every aspect of their parking journey.”
Beyond automating payments, the system is expected to support wider traffic management efforts by providing real-time data on parking occupancy. Officials say this could reduce the time motorists spend searching for available spaces — a major cause of congestion in densely populated areas.
The automated enforcement system is also designed to improve the accuracy of violation detection while minimising the risk of incorrect fines, as charges are linked directly to actual parking duration.
As part of its expansion plans, Parkin is continuing to integrate the technology with its digital platforms to deliver a more seamless parking experience across Dubai.
The new cameras are fully integrated with the Parkin app, available on iOS, Android and Huawei devices, creating a unified digital parking experience as the system expands across Dubai.
Parkin CTO Talal Al Ajmi said the move toward data-driven operations will enhance consistency and accuracy in parking management.
“Integration with the Parkin App supports a more streamlined approach to parking management, improving accuracy and consistency across operations,” he said.
The expansion is part of Dubai’s broader strategy to integrate artificial intelligence into everyday civic services as the city advances its smart mobility and digital infrastructure initiatives.
