The message highlighted efforts to strengthen ties between the United Arab Emirates and Mauritania amid ongoing regional tensions.

Abu Dhabi: President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received a written message from Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani regarding bilateral relations between the United Arab Emirates and Mauritania.
The message was received by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan during a meeting with Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, Mauritania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the latest regional developments and the consequences of the unprovoked Iranian terrorist attacks targeting civilian sites and facilities in the United Arab Emirates using missiles and drones.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug condemned what they described as unprovoked Iranian terrorist attacks against the United Arab Emirates, saying the strikes violated international law and the United Nations Charter and posed a direct threat to the country’s security, stability and territorial integrity.
Both sides also affirmed the UAE’s legitimate right to respond to the attacks in a way that protects its sovereignty, national security, territorial integrity, and the safety of its citizens, residents and visitors, in line with international law.
The two sides also discussed ways to strengthen regional and international efforts aimed at achieving lasting stability, peace and security across the region.
The meeting further highlighted the fraternal relations between the United Arab Emirates and the Mauritania, with discussions focusing on expanding cooperation in various sectors to serve the mutual interests of both nations and their peoples.
During the talks, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan emphasized the deep-rooted ties between the two countries and their shared commitment to advancing cooperation and broadening partnerships in support of development goals and prosperity.
The meeting was also attended by Khalifa bin Shaheen Al Marar and Sheikh Nahyan bin Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan.
