The restriction aims to protect the breeding cycle by regulating the fishing and sale of certain fish species.

The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has reminded the public of the ban on fishing and trading certain species during their mating season, first announced in 2024.
Under Ministerial Resolution No. (50) of 2024, the capture and sale of Golden Trevally (Zuraidi) and Painted Sweetlips (Farsh) is prohibited from April 1 to April 30 for the years 2024–2026.
The Ministry said in a Tuesday post that the resolution forms part of its efforts to regulate commercial fishing, safeguard fish stocks in UAE waters, and strengthen the country’s food security.
ADAFSA stated that the decree also terminates the previous ministerial decision that regulated the fishing and trade of Goldlined Seabream and King Soldier Bream.
