Eid initiative allows residents to reconnect with loved ones via phone and video calls.

In a gesture of compassion and social solidarity, the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai has launched a humanitarian initiative for approximately 500 residents at the violators’ shelter in Al Awir, enabling them to connect with their families during Eid Al Fitr.
The program is part of the broader ‘Eid in Dubai’ campaign and supports the UAE’s ‘Year of Family’ objectives, while also addressing regional circumstances that may restrict direct contact between residents and their loved ones.
Calling cards were provided to detainees, giving them the opportunity to make phone calls and reconnect with their families during the festive season.
In addition, video call services were made available to Muslim residents, enabling virtual interactions that help bridge distances and foster a sense of togetherness despite physical separation.
Officials stated that the initiative seeks to support emotional well-being and preserve family bonds, especially during special occasions when being apart can be particularly challenging.
GDRFA Dubai stated that such programs demonstrate its continued commitment to putting people at the heart of its services, while fostering compassion, social cohesion, and an enhanced quality of life within the community.
